The injury happened in seconds. On the morning of January 5, 2022, doing something completely ordinary, I slammed on my brakes at a green light when the car in front of me stopped suddenly. My foot was planted on the brake at impact, and the force shattered my midfoot. At the time, all I knew was the pain was unbearable, unlike anything I had ever felt. Paramedics told me to “stretch it” and handed me an ice pack. No one could see how serious it was, and I couldn\u2019t either, only that something was very wrong.<\/p>\n
After a visit with a foot specialist, I learned my midfoot was dislocated and I needed emergency surgery for a Lisfranc injury. By the time I reached the ER, hours had passed with no pain control, and I waited more than eight hours with multiple fractures before receiving medication. Surgery was delayed again and again. Lying alone in that hospital bed, pressing the call button, pleading for help, I prayed one simple prayer: that somehow God would use this for good. That if something meaningful could come from the suffering, then it wouldn\u2019t be wasted.<\/p>\n
That injury marked the beginning of a long journey, one that included multiple surgeries, complications, and years of recovery. It also reshaped me. What was meant to break me became something that grew my faith and my purpose. I didn\u2019t choose this road, but I believe it wasn\u2019t meaningless.
